Activate the book, then plan around its effect
Profit Boost, Loss Reduction and Power Increase describe Gambler’s Confidence, Insurance and Stake Holder. Buy and retrieve the book, then Use it during an active casino day. The upgrade affects its user and resets on return to the lobby; it is not a permanent or automatic team buff.
| Upgrade | Documented effect | When to consider it |
|---|---|---|
| Confidence | Each use adds 0.5 to the profit multiplier | Several betting opportunities remain and you still have working money. |
| Insurance | Each use covers 25% of the remaining unprotected loss | Protect a fragile balance; it does not improve the chance of winning. |
| Stake Holder | Item multiplier starts at 1.0 and adds 0.5 per use | You already have an item that benefits from it. |
Starting prices are 7 / 7 / 6 Tickets respectively. Check later shop prices.
Insurance has diminishing returns
The documented formula is 1 − 0.75^n, where n is the number of books. Applying that formula gives:
| Books | Loss reduction, calculated |
|---|---|
| 1 | 25% |
| 2 | 43.75% |
| 3 | About 57.8% |
| 4 | About 68.4% |
Four books do not equal 100% loss protection. Insurance and Stake descriptions explicitly require the active day, affect only the user and clear at day end.
Stake Holder does not change every item the same way
It raises the Golden Chip’s free-bet amount, the Taser’s bet-cap increase, the Camera’s stored raw money and the Microphone’s sound sensitivity. This is not a universal duration increase or an improvement to every machine’s odds. There is no verified Time Machine combination here.
Keep principal and profit separate
The 1.0.7 penguin example has Confidence 50%, a 140 bet and a 3.0x base display of 420, but a receipt of 560. It matches 140 + 280 × 1.5. This is one recorded example and an arithmetic explanation, not an all-build test of every machine.
